How To Get Someone Out of Jail Without Bond?

April 7, 2022

If you or someone you know gets arrested, you might be wondering if getting out of jail without a bail bond is possible.

This is a very understandable concern since bail amounts are often thousands of dollars or more.

While most people in Tennessee can get access to bail bonds fairly easily, meaning they will only need to pay a percentage of their total bail amount, this can still be a considerable burden for people who are struggling financially.

The good news is that All N One Bail Bonds – Memphis is here to help. We offer fast and affordable bail bond services designed to fit your budget. Many people love our flexible payment plans.

Don’t spend more time than necessary in a Memphis Jail. Call us today at 901- 523-2245.

Can You Get Someone Out of Jail Without Bond?

Yes, it is possible to get released from jail without a bond. This is called getting released on your Own Recognizance (O.R.).

Getting released on O.R. is not always easy and usually only applies if the crime is minor and if the defendant has a good reputation, along with other factors.

There are other situations in which a defendant may be released from jail without bail, but this only happens for minor infractions.

More About Getting Released On O.R.

When a defendant is released on O.R., they sign a promise to abide by the conditions of their release.

We already mentioned a few factors that impact the likelihood of getting released on O.R. Here are some other ones:

  • How long the defendant has lived in the community
  • The nature of the crime and the reason it was committed
  • Criminal history
  • The defendant’s reputation
  • The defendant’s mental health condition
  • Whether or not the defendant poses a risk to the community
  • The defendant’s job and financial situation
  • The defendant’s friends and family
  • Flight risk

How Is Bail Set In Tennessee?

Bail amounts are set during bail hearings, which usually take place 72 hours after an arrest has been made in Tennessee.

How each state goes about setting bail is different, which is why some states have their own bail schedules with pre-determined bail amounts. Tennessee, however, does not. There is no set bail schedule here.

Rather, bail amounts are set by judges on a case-by-case basis.

Once a bail amount has been set, a defendant has four options:

  1. They can pay their bail amount in cash.
  2. They can request to be released on O.R.
  3. They can request to get their bail amount reduced.
  4. They can get a bail bond with a bail bond agency.

How Bail Bonds Can Help
