HOW TO POST BOND FOR A SHELBY COUNTY JAIL INMATE

September 12, 2020

If someone you know has been arrested in Memphis or the Shelby County Area there are a few things you should know. In order to post bond for a Shelby County Jail inmate, you must follow several rules.

FACTS ABOUT POSTING BOND FOR A SHELBY COUNTY JAIL INMATE

The jail is located at 201 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38103. The women’s facility is in east Memphis at 6201 Haley Road.

You may pay bail at the bonding area, which is open 24 hours a day. Cash bonds, surety bonds, and fines and costs may be paid here. Cash bonds of $10,000 or more will be processed at the applicable court.

Inmates may pay their bail on their own or ask a friend or family member to help. Bail may be paid by cash, credit card, or a check, as well as through a bail bonds person.

If you need information about the bail agreement, you must contact the court. If you are planning on obtaining a surety bond, having several pieces of information available can simplify the process. This information includes:

  • The inmate’s full name.
  • Where the inmate is being held (such as a specific local or county jail)
  • The specific charges
  • The bail amount
  • Where the alleged crime occurred
  • The name of the arresting officer in case questions arise
  • See Our Application Form Here
